Sunday's adventures

Yesterday I did something stupid. Very stupid. Not only did I eat an umeasurable amount of cheetos...make that flaming hot cheetos.... but, popcorn with cheese flakes, and then, wait for it, ice cream. By the end of the day I felt like I had swallowed Stone Henge. The battle in my gut was so monstrously bad that not even the strongest of acid reducers could quell the uprising. And today, I'm counting the dead. I will never, EVER, do that again. I should no better. Grains=bad things. Especially corn.
BUT, I do not regret the cheetos, even though I hate flaming hot cheetos, because yesterday they were adventure food. Refusing to be locked in the house on a beautiful sunny Sunday, I plopped myself down in front of the computer and pulled up a map of the Kitsap peninsula. We've been North, though not as far as I'd like to, the further south you go, the uglier, but we had never been west. Yes, we packed up the wagon and headed west, to Seabeck.
I was excited to go and explore this exciting and strange new land- not only because I love quaint seaside towns, but because even stepping a mile out of the "butthole" (as Josh puts it) is beautiful beyond words. Pretty drive? Quaint town? Yes. Though, I was unprepared for how "quaint" Seabeck was going to be.

Yep, that's Seabeck. All five buildings of it... "Quick! Don't blink!" I shouted as we nearly missed it. I couldn't contain myself, I laughed so hard. Online, it said it was once the great logging town, larger than Seattle at one point. Well, duh, anything was larger than Seattle before it was built. Silly surprise aside, we actually had fun here.
This cute little coffee stand reminded me of Cape Cod, except no person in their right mind
there would name a bay, "Big Beef."

You know what I love as much as small towns? Sea shells. I was not disappointed. I brought one home to put
my natural earrings in.

Seabeck really had some CdA-esque views.

Know what I love as much as small towns and seashells? Sea life. Especially crabs. I used to have them as pets.

We stopped at the general store and bought the Cheetos and a Monster and then proceeded to take a very  long, very beautiful drive. We haven't gotten the chance to escape the leaky sphincter and truly experience all that Washington has to offer. It is beautiful in it's gloomy winters, but nothing compares to summer forests. We randomly picked roads to drive on until we found ourselves in a small community called "Holly."

As you can see, only the rich people live there. By the time we arrived home, we were completely refreshed. Amazing how nature can do that, no? Josh played his video game, Boomer slept on the table, and I read about a mattress named Zem. Four hours passed and I was antsy again, so back into the car and off on another drive. Josh tried and failed multiple attempts to climb a mountain (apparently WA does not believe in fun) but found WildCat Park instead. Here, I rediscovered what was so great about the humble swing. Josh had more fun on the tire swing though (barf). Then, we bought ice cream and watched Avatar, because, we're all grown up and stuff and that's what adults do.

My weekend was pretty awesome, and now I sit avoiding the dishes that I let marinate over the weekend. I always do that, and it always takes super-human strength to get me in there and fight...the germs. I also found a blog post called "101 ways to cheer yourself up." I think I will use that as a sanity plan as the days grow long and my husband becomes more and more of a phantom. Anyway, off to do the usual monday grind.
