I've been on the paleo diet for a couple of days now, and at this moment, I would probably push down a small child and steal their ice cream cone if I had the opportunity. Don't get me wrong, I'm full yes, but after being a vegetarian and carbivore for two years I WANT CARBS. I'm not used to protein fullness. I've had a chicken breast, steak, two bananas, two squares of super dark chocolate, two eggs and two carrots today so far. Hopefully, I will get to the store to et some veggies for dinner. No rice or beans or cheese or sweets. :( So, now I will make myself some tea and try not to hurt anyone. My poor husband has no idea what he's getting himself into when he gets home. Maybe I'll annoy him enough to take me to the gym tonight. Every part of my body is strong except for my arms. They look like spongebob arms. Very attractive.
So in sum-
I had a total of 1400 calories
My carb intake was 109 g
My protein was 90 g
I did 35 minutes of elliptical work and will do some ab exercises while the husband watches an old black and white Japanese film.
I'm not what you would call hungry. My blood sugar is stable AND *AND* I haven't been quite as moody (since I'm not constantly needing something to eat.) I didn't wake up starving this morning and since I started a few days ago my wedding ring isn't quite as tight. I think I was swollen from salt intake last week. Josh is afraid I'll go into ketosis (a fear I admittedly instilled in him during my vegetarian days). Ketosis merely means the body is burning fat for energy. Proteins called ketones are a main component of fat breakdown so it is expected that they will be floating around. Ketoacidosis, or extreme ketosis, is common in diabetics as they do not have the insulin to utilize glucose and therefore must rely on fat for their main energy source. Ketoacidosis does lower the pH of blood and can be fatal. However, this condition only happens when there is no way for the body to break down glucose. In short, I'm not even close to worried. I do miss rice, at least the texture. The stomach issues- not so much. I didn't realize I would easily eat 90 g of carbs in one sitting, just from a bowl of rice. No wonder I felt funky. More tomorrow! Goodnight all.
